Welcome to the original student accommodation for Kathleen Lumely college
Where many students, past and present have thrived
Established in the late 1960s, Kathleen Lumley College was a long standing and respected student residential college affiliated with the The University of Adelaide. Originally founded through the generosity of Kathleen Lumley, the college became home to generations of local, interstate and international students, academics and visiting scholars, many of whom formed lifelong friendships and memories within its unique community environment.
Following the significant impact of the COVID 19 pandemic on the higher education and international student sector, the Kathleen Lumley Foundation made the difficult decision to close the college and later sell the historic property.
Today, the property continues to operate under new ownership and management, proudly continuing its long tradition as student accommodation in Adelaide. While embracing a new chapter, the spirit and legacy of Kathleen Lumley College remains deeply respected, with the property continuing to welcome students, postgraduates, academic visitors and even returning former residents seeking a touch of nostalgia and connection to its rich history.
Our goal is to honour what Kathleen Lumley College represented for so many years, a welcoming, supportive and community focused place to live, study and build lifelong memories, while ensuring the property continues serving future generations of students for many years to come.

Accommodation For Students
The college has 62 guest rooms with ensuite (bedroom with combined study), as well as a number of two-room flats.
Each room is fully furnished. There are common entertainment, kitchen and laundry facilities.
Individual Villa rooms with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities are also available.

The Foundation was created to continue the College’s enduring legacy of education, research, collaboration and international connection.
Inspired by the values and community spirit that defined Kathleen Lumley College for decades, the Foundation now focuses on supporting postgraduate research, scholarship programs and initiatives that contribute to social, cultural, environmental and economic advancement across Australia and the Asia Pacific region.
The Foundation honours the history of the original college, which welcomed thousands of students, academics and researchers from around the world since opening in 1967, while continuing to invest in future generations through education, innovation and academic excellence.
